    The best thing I can say about this DVD player is that it's inexpensive. Other than the upconverting functionality, it's really a bare bottom basic player. The most annoying function is that the player doesn't respond very quickly to the remote control. Another annoying thing is that forward/rewind goes from 2x to 4x to 64x to 128x and the displayed picture is very jumpy. These 2 problems combined make it hard to find and stop where you want it to. Also, the DVD's zoom function (stretches the picture to various sizes) is very poor quality - my TV's zoom function is much better.

    I bought this one to replace my Samsung HD-960 that I lost in a lightning storm and I am very satisfied with the picture and sound. I gave it a 4 overall because it did not come with a HDMI cable. It works even better when you have a Samsung TV then the remote can control the TV functions as well. Overall a very good product.

    Got this to go with a new 1080p TV, but wasn't going to shell out 300-400 bucks for a intro level blue ray. It works really well just pluged in HDMI and power and I was good to go. Picture does look better with the up-conversion, but not quite as good as if the original format was HD (aka blue-ray). This is a great value for this type of player (I checked w/ consumer reports before I bought). Also the player is light and slim. We use net flix a lot and its had no problems reading the well used disks. The biggest down side to this player is the remote. It is not back-lit and the buttons have small print, it could benefit from a better layout too (imho). All in all I'd recommend this player to anyone.

    Bought this as a father's day gift. The unit is very easy to set up, has plenty of different connection types to choose from (HDMI, component, s-video, standard RCA), and the system menus are easy to understand and navigate. A few buttons on the remote are organized a little funny, but it's nothing of major concern. My only major concern with this product is its actual upconversion performance. The device claims to upconvert to 1080p with HDMI. IT DOES NOT. It will do 1080i, but for some reason it keeps saying that the TV does not support 1080p. This is false, as my dad's 60" plasma is fully HDCP compliant and will do 1080p no problem, and all cables used are compliant with all current media standards. Perhaps I just got a bad unit. Good thing dad is already so happy with it that he probably wouldn't let me send it back if I wanted to...

    I've had player for a few weeks now. So far, no issues. However, the remote buttons could have been designed a little better so that the main buttons (play, pause, etc.) would be easier to find quickly. Recommend this player.

    Super easy to setup, even without reading the instructions. HDMI will be great when I get that HDTV. Quick to start playing when a DVD is inserted. Easy menu system. Decent remote. A really nice player for the $$$.

    I did a search for a new dvd and read many reports about all kinds of dvds.. after making a list of the top 5 I had on my list I went out and took a look at the performance of each dvd player.. I found this player to offer the best picture and ease of use.. I then searched for the best price and found that at buy.com.. its a great dvd and a great price..you wont be sorry..
