4 of 5 Very Good Trip Info Tuesday, September 09, 2008
Alex from NJ

I like the on-screen summary trip info of Nextar compared to the Garmin. I had the Garmin Street Pilot 350, which was excellent in performance but only scanty trip info (eg miles to destination, direction of next turn, etc ). Compared to the Garmin unit, address input is better. Garmin is less predictive, whereas the Nextar will list all the Cities in the United states with the same name. Garmin sometimes wait till you type the full name before allowing you to select. Therefore, if you don't know the correct spelling it becomes very difficult. Nextar will suggest names that are closer to your spelling even if you are wrong. I wish the unit was as bright, as loud and as fast as the Garmin unit. Maps need to be updated. It could not find Winsor, CT or the street I wanted, whereas the Garmin recognized it easily. No text to speech means you could take a wrong turn, especially if the turns are very close. Overall, it is great for the price of $129, but I would not pay extra for it.

3 of 5 Good for 1st GPS Monday, September 08, 2008
A Customer from Sanford, NC
Maps are outdated and cant easily find the updates. Not very user friendly. Ok for 1st GPS and upside is the 4.3 inch screen. POI are just complete waste.

4 of 5 Good Buy for the Money Tuesday, September 02, 2008
A Customer from WA
This was my first GPS and it has been great for the first month. The only problem I've had so far was having to reboot the unit after it froze on an address. The inner-face is pretty simple once you play around with it for a while. Overall its the best price you can probably get for a 4.3" GPS.

5 of 5 Excellent product for excellent price Sunday, August 31, 2008
A Customer from Quincy, MA
This is my first GPS. I found it very easy to use. I was able to use it without reading instructions. I tested the recalculation of routes by taking wrong turns and it is very fast in recalculating the new route. Recalculation was almost immediate. It connects to sattlelite within a minute of startup. Battery runs for about 2 hours once fully charged and could have been better but I think for the price I paid this one is excellent product for startup.

4 of 5 Not bad for the money Sunday, August 31, 2008
A Customer from Salem, Oregon
Similar to many more expensive units I looked at. Does the job and the cost was cheap.. Thought it would provide me GPS coordinates however does not. Also the touchscreen works well however on some of the menu items the use of the built-in stylus is required.... Happy with it so far...came with all the required accesories

5 of 5 Money well spent Sunday, August 31, 2008
A Customer from Appleton WI
It will do what it claims it can do. For the money it is a very good value. Navigating the menus could be easier, but once learned they are not difficult. I am not sorry I choose this unit as my first GPS. Even my wife likes it.

4 of 5 Good value Monday, August 25, 2008
A Customer from Atlanta, GA
I purchased this item after giving my first GPS to my grown daughter (who was moving to Texas). I returned the first unit (very great experience with BUY.COM) because the speaker was cracked and I could not understand the spoken turn by turn instructions. The new unit arrived and worked as expected however, the speaker on this unit has a very tinny sound. I can understand the instructions but the sound quality is not as good as the Tom Tom I gave away. All in all I am satisfied.

3 of 5 The map is old Monday, August 18, 2008
A Customer from Central, SC
The 4.3 touch screen is good with this price. However, the map is too old. A Walmart opened two years ago in my city can not be found in POI. My home's address(the road number) is not available. No updated map online for download. Recalulating is slow

5 of 5 Excellent for Primary Intended Purpose Tuesday, July 29, 2008
topcatwhimsy from Frankford, Delaware
For the price this unit would be hard to beat (in the current market). This is my first GPS navigation unit and think it's great for all it claims. The spoken route instructions would be fine in a quiet automobile but in a van with windows down it's not loud enough but I doubt any others are either. That being said, it would be nice to have bluetooth for an earpiece free of wires. I wish it would have displayed ground speed on the main display without the need to go to another window. As yet I've not used the mp3 or photos function so cannot comment on those. If I were shopping for another with the same funding I'd buy this same unit again.

3 of 5 It's alright Wednesday, July 23, 2008
A Customer from Waukegan, IL
The product sounded pretty good, and I suppose it was my fault to not being educated about GPS navigation products, but I was a little disappointed when I received it. The screen is nice and big which is nice. But, one feature I don't like is that to see the battery life remaining, you have to exit the navigation feature, which then when you go back into, you have to wait to get the GPS signal again. Also, there is no feature to use in the navigation part that allows the system to know that you're not driving, you're walking. It was a little bit less than helpful walking around the city. Like most GPS systems, the battery life is not great. And it might just be the area I'm living in this summer, but most of the time when I'm looking for a POI it just seems more like a hassel than helpful. I'm not sure if it just gets confused or what. Also the product's map card can be updated from the companies website, but it only works on PC's, so Mac users beware.

3 of 5 Good GPS for the money..... Saturday, July 19, 2008
Mr. Hayes from Winston-Salem, NC
The Nextar Q4 is a good GPS unit for the price I paid for it. I am pleased with it so far. As far as updating the maps, I guess I'll have to call the company to let them insruct me how. i've used in on trips to Atlanta, and it worked great.

5 of 5 great for the price Wednesday, July 16, 2008
A Customer from aliso viejo, ca
right after i receive the q4, buy.com sent me an ad for the x4 for $30 cheaper!!!! from what i can tell the x4 is exactly the same but can calculate speed. i would have rather spent $30 less... however the q4 handles all the basic functionality of a gps. it recalculates routes quickly and the tts is clear and accurate (the pronounciation can be a little off at times, but to be expected, imo) haven't tried the mp3 or picture viewer as i purchased soley for the gps capability. for the price i don't think you could go wrong. setting your destination takes some time, so plan ahead. once your on the road it works nice.

2 of 5 No Pre-loaded Canada Map As Advertised Wednesday, July 16, 2008
A Customer from Elyria, OH
This is my first GPS. Technically, it is an excellent gadget. However, there's a deception in the advert because the gadget does not feature pre-loaded Canada map as advertised when I bought it. I tried to plot a route from Cleveland (OH) to Toronto, Canada but there is no Toronto listed in the library of the gadget. I'll not recommend this to anybody who travels to Canada

5 of 5 great for average user! Tuesday, July 15, 2008
A Customer from Austin, Tx
I am new to using GPS systems, but so far i love this one! When i bought it, it was a little bit cheaper, but still a great deal for the price. I am still trying to figure out how to update the map...toll roads put in by my house a year ago are not on the map this GPS has; a bit annoying but i can live with it. If you are not looking for something super fancy and expensive this is a perfect GPS!

5 of 5 I like it Saturday, July 12, 2008
Peter from Green Bay, WI
What I like about this GPS: 1). Bright so that you can see it clearly during day time. 2). Loud speaker. 3). Software design. The text that indicates next turn becomes red when the next turn is the turn. Also, the voice gives you distance before next turn. However, when there is no other turns, voice says TURN RIGHT (LEFT) without giving distance. I like the distinction. 4). The screen changes color between night and day. Something nice to have. 5). If two turns are very close to each other, directions are given together as well. 6). Route calculation is very fast. 7). Big screen.
