4 of 5 Kensington DataTraveler: Inexpensive and effective Tuesday, January 06, 2009 TechnoDude from Woodland Hills, CA
Flash drives have become such a commodity lately that differentiating between them is largely a matter of case design. In the DataTraveler, the USB connector slides out of the case using a tab on side, much like the blade on a box-cutter, rather than having a cap. Since the working end is still uncovered when retracted, if you intend to carry the drive in your pocket, be prepared to pick lint out of the connector prior to using it. As noted by others, the slide movement is rather stiff.
With my Mac, the drive formats to 3.65GB. I haven't yet come close to pushing the limits of its capacity.

5 of 5 Good price, hard to open Monday, December 29, 2008 Terry Traub from Phoenix, AZ
The Kingston DataTraveler is just what I needed -- 4 gigs of storage that's the size of a stick of gum. It's incredible the amount of data one of these bad boys can hold. It's equivalent to a 4-gig DVD-R, and twice as convenient.
The only complaint I have is that the thumb slider is a little hard to work. You have to really exert some force to extend it. The solution is to just leave it extended all the time, but it's still a bit of a pain.
Kingston has several other 4GB models that are equivalent to this one but have either a cap or a flip-top to protect the USB plug; I would recommend looking at those first. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 Great product, Great price Tuesday, December 23, 2008 A Customer from Pittsburgh, PA
Excellent product and a great price at buy.com. The onlything disappointing is this flash drive did not come with any type of string or loop around it for connecting a laynard. Was this review helpful?
4 of 5 Good product for a great price Tuesday, December 23, 2008 Scott from Jacksonville, Florida
This USB drive seems sturdy enough even though it does feel like the casing is made from light weight plastic (I'm afraid I'm going to break it easily one day). The slide to move the usb connector in and out isn't always the smoothest, but it does keep the connector from getting bent while not in use. There is no cover or cap to keep debris out though.
For 4GB for the price this is a very good deal. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Great Deal Saturday, December 20, 2008 Tom from Antioch, CA
I picked this up due to a long time perceived need and the ridiculously low price. I wanted to begin transferring my emails and various Word and Excel files I had created at work to my home computer as I am planning on bailing on my employer at the first possible opportunity. Emailing the files from word to my personal DSL account just wasn't efficient. And, despite many attempts to utilize my VSP connection from home to copy the files that way, I realized it would take too long.
Well, this flash memory has proven to be efficient and extremely cost effective. I've moved scads of files in only two cycles and have been able to do so quite discreetly. All this for a little more than $8! The capacity is beyond what I believed and the speed is adequate. Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 works like a usb key Friday, December 19, 2008 A Customer from stamford, ct
Works fine. A bit cheesy on the construction materials - plastic all the way. I'm not looking forward to the day when the plug won't retract or extend (which would be worse since my stuff will be inaccessible at that point). Hopefully that won't happen. A colleague has a similar key made out of stronger stuff. Considering the price, this is great little key. Oh yes, it's black which makes it hard to see - fire engine red would be less fashionable but more visible. Was this review helpful?

5 of 5 So handy! Monday, December 15, 2008 Bill D. from Hampton NH
I had been using a 4GB for sometime and decided to buy three more. One for each of my two daughters who put them on their Christmas lists and a third for a Christmas swap. I love its physical size and no more cap to get lost. I have been buying Kingston products for years (SD cards etc.) and have never had a negative experience! ...and free shipping! 4gb at a very reasonable price. Very easy to use and I like the fact that there's no cap to lose. Will be purchasing another for my mom--no complaints here! Was this review helpful?
5 of 5 Pretty nice device Saturday, December 13, 2008 Keith M from Brillion, WI
I haven't used the Traveler much yet but it seems to be a pretty solid device. It loads minimal drivers on the first connection, which is nice. I like the relatively slim form factor. This is the first time I've owned an extending connector type of device. We'll see if it holds up. At the price this seems like a pretty solid deal. Was this review helpful?
